#Stellarium keeps crashing install#
I agree that it would be completely helpful for Apple to tell users before an update that certain things might break if the update is installed, and thus give us a choice about whether to install it. (Well, Jobs left it behind, and Woz was frustrated by the muzzle.) What is certain is that 48 hours after revealing this bug, Apple has not communicated anything and therefore leaves its users to fend for themselves.Īt this stage, I had to give up the security update !īut on the other hand, if there is anything we have learned in the saga of Apple Inc over these many years (and my Mac use goes back even further than yours, if that’s possible!), it’s that Apple is not that communicative and responsive company, and left those qualities behind when Jobs and Wozniak moved out of the garage where they had been hand-assembling Apple I kits in the 1970s. The least Apple could do would be to inform its users : “if you install this update, some apps (A,B.C.D) will stop working”. I am running MacOS 10.15.7 on a MacBookPro Intel I also notice that more than 24 hours after my report (with the sending of a good ten crash logs), the problem is not recognized and there is no commitment to solve it… The simple truth is that the tests prior to this update were not conducted with the required rigor and efficiency.Īs a result, the affected users have to waste many hours to remove this update or abandon the tools they use… So, to continue to use these software, you must accept a higher level of risk ! This confirms that the Security Update 2021-007 of Catalina is indeed the cause of the systematic crash of Google Earth Pro…įrankly, it is annoying to see that security improvements (which are welcome) completely block the use of competing software…

Google Drive for desktop appears to work but with some new flaws.Īfter reinstalling Catalina (command-R on startup) without the Security Update 2021-007, Google Earth Pro works again! This is the case also for Stellarium and RStudio ?įaulting application name: dwm.exe, version: 6.0, time stamp: 0x5632d756įaulting module name: igd10iumd64.dll, version: 20., time stamp: 0x56c6378aįaulting application start time: 0x01d1a6544c3811dbįaulting application path: C:\WINDOWS\system32\dwm.exeįaulting module path: C:\WINDOWS\system32\igd10iumd64.After Security Update 2021-007 for Catalina, Google Earth Pro is crashing… I was scrolling along a line of text in my text editor using a bluetooth keyboard and I received another "display stopped responding but recovered" message. Most of the time I am running under AC power.ĮDIT: Well I spoke too soon. So I had to revert that back to the NVIDIA driver. I have seen issues again with my browser's bookmark menu links.

Stellarium is a heavy user of OpenGL so the new driver may have fixed that. Stellarium seems to be working fine under the newer Intel driver. I have not received any Intel Display Driver crashes in almost 3 weeks (those are the errors I listed above). Here is a complete list of the flurry of errors (LiveKernelEvents) I had a few weeks ago related to the Intel driver: They were either Code 117 or 141. I had one other "hardware" message in the Reliability Report regarding the "Intel USB 3.0 eXtensible Host Controller". That seems to indicate the "TDR Delay" issue that I have seen associated with the "video has stopped responding." error.

#Stellarium keeps crashing windows 10#
The Windows 10 Reliability Report references a "Hardware error" with this additional information: "LKD_0x141_Tdr:6_IMAGE_igdkmd64.sys".

But I had a string of errors about 2 weeks ago (that was about a week after I installed the latest Intel driver) within a very short period of time.

It seems like the last update fixed the issues I was having with them. However I reset the astronomy program (Stellarium) and my browser to either use the automatic video driver setting or the integrated driver setting and they seem to be working now under the updated Intel driver. I am not sure if this would be a MB problem as a number of people have been reporting the same "video driver has stopped responding but has recovered" issue. I am normally plugged into AC power but I think I had the browser problem under battery power as well.

Yes I used the NVIDIA Control Panel software (Manage 3D Settings section) to assign the High Performance settings to the two programs I had issues with.
